On August 15th an amazing season of Alpine Winter Festivals closed in Melbourne at Queensbridge Square. Up until then more than 400,000 guests visited the sites over the 35 event days. We hope all of you enjoyed the magic winter atmosphere in the heart of the city or near the beach at the new Bondi Bergstation, the first ever alpine village at the beach. An event that went around the world with media coverage from the BBC to Austrian newspapers.
We would like to thank all our Event Partners for their tremendous support and making this event possible!
For next year we have big plans to further extend the events to 3 new locations and adding fantastic new attractions. Stay tuned to this site and our Facebook Page for further details.

The cold snap is moving south as the Melbourne Winter Festival arrives on Queensbridge Square, Southbank for eleven days between 3-15 August. This buzzing pedestrain plaza and meeting place will be transformed into an alpine village with all the magic of a northern winter. The enormous 600 square metre Strepsils Cool Ice Rink will be the focal point with ice skating for all ages and abilities.
If aprés skate is more your style, come and enjoy some alpine delicacies and beverages in the village or hang out in the transparent Winter Festival bar and watch the beauty of the outdoor ice rink as you listen to European djs spin fresh alpine sounds. This is a spectacle not to be missed, and entry to the festival is free: come along and catch an ice skating performance by some of the very talented skaters from Ice Skating Australia…
Be dazzled and amazed by pro-skaters as they fly and twirl around the Strepsils Cool Ice Rink. The lovely people from Ice Skating Australia will be on the ice performing ten minute demonstrations between public skate sessions (at ten minutes to the hour). Details of performance times coming soon.

The Winter Festival had a fantastic run on Cathedral Forecourt and Bondi Bergstation. Thousands of Sydneysiders truly embraced the cold snap and headed into the CBD and the beach and into an Alpine wonderland. The six hundred square metre rinks drew smiles as crowds gathered around the rink to watch skaters glide, race or wobble around the ice. The aprés skate vibe was also extremely popular: dressing up in furs and winter woollies, linking arms in the warmth our Alpine ski hut and enjoying the music around the festival: anyone for a yodel?
Check out some photos here.
We’re gearing up to the launch of Melbourne Winter Festival. Ice skating tickets available here.
We’re bringing our alpine playground down to Queensbridge Square, 3-15 August.
